Christchurch - Print Competition No 2 - OPEN subject and no time restriction on when the images were taken as long as they are yours.
Please hand in your entries at the meeting the week before.
Remember to upload the PDI version of your print to the club website as well. Instructions on how to do this will be sent in advance of the competition especially as we will be using a new website and upload process.
Tue 3 Dec 2024 - Speaker 4 (ZOOM): Polina Plotnikova "Still Life"
ZOOM - Polina Plotnikova will give us a talk on "Still Life" or, if we wish, one half of the talk on "Flower Photography" and the second half on "Still Life". The choice is ours.
Tue 10 Dec 2024 - Club's Christmas Party at the BAKEHOUSE, Bessemer Road, WGC
We will be holding the club's Christmas Party down at the BAKEHOUSE in Bessemer Road, WGC. Buffet food will be provided and there will be a quiz hosted by Dave Foster and Rob Powell with prizes. A night for us to enjoy each other's company in a nice relaxing manner.
Tue 7 Jan 2025 - Speaker 5 (Zoom): David Gilliver "Little People"
A new speaker to our club, David will talk on how he uses tiny model figures to make up stories and apply them using macro photography. This is of particular interest to those with toy soldier displays but it might be of use to other members to get their children or grandchildren interested in photography in a fun way.

We also ask that members upload up to TWO images of an OPEN nature, which will be judged in the seconds part of the evening. If there are too many images for the evening, we will drop one of the OPEN images

ZOOM: Speaker No 6 - Roger Hance with his talk entitled "Landscapes and Seascapes in the UK"
Roger spoke to us in Jan 2024 and was very well received. We are tonight looking at another of the skills in his portfolio, that of landsapes and seascapes. Roger will talk about the places he has visited, how and when to use (ND) filters to get better results and how to treaat the final image. Again another of Roger's talks not to be missed - especially as it is not being recorded.

Zoom: Speaker No 8 - Alistair How on "Urban and Street Photography". Alistair highlights his urban and street photography from many cities in the UK and beyond. His talks will include tips on how to get the best images, what equipment to use and how to approach the scene. This will be useful for our intrepid band of photographers, who go down to London regularly on photographic trips.

This is a F2F talk at Christchurch with Martin Patten entitled "How to Critique your own Images".
As we take our own images, especially when on holiday, can we analyse and critique them quickly and effectively so that we can perhaps go back and retake the image? And can we have general critique of our images that help us in the long termto take better images.
Martin will start off in the first hald using his own images to show us how to perform a sensible critique but in the second half will take images from club members to critique and more importantly to help us improve...

Annual PDI Competition ; We are the judges.
We pair the images up, choose the better one, which goes through to the next round. Then we repeat the process by pairing up the winners from the first round and this goes on till we reach the final. It's a bit like the FA Cup or the Winbledon Singles competition.
