Tue 2 Dec 2025 - Speaker (ZOOM): Geoff Drake "Photographing a City - Liverpool"

8:00pm

Liverpool is a great place for a photographer.  The riverfront with its new architecture and newly redesigned docks; the Baltic triangle with its many old places of work and loads of graffiti; the two cathedrals dominating the student area; the classical buildings around the main station at Lime Street; and the musical heritage of Billy Fury, the Beatles, Cilla Black and many others - all make this a photographer's paradise.  And who better to tell us about it than geoff Drake, the author of the FotoVue book "Liverpool", an invaluable guide if you are visiting the city. ...

8:00pm

We welcome back Chris Upton to speak to us about "Essential Composition".  We can all buy cameras, press the shutter button and take images.  But will they be any good?  How can we tell a story with our images because they have good composition.  Can we teach photographic and artistic composition or are these gifts that we're either born with or not?  Chris will discuss all these tonight.
