Christchurch: PDI Competition 1 - OPEN Subject      Judge: Ken Payne

Normally we ask members to upload up to FOUR images when the competition subject is of an open nature.  If there are too many images by the start of the competition, the fourth images will not be considered by members can use them in later competitions.

Images must have been uploaded to the club's NEW website by midnight on Friday 25 October 2024.

This is an external competition of PDI images and Prints between 4 clubs: Welwyn Garden City; Stevenage; Letchworth; and H2 from Much Hadham, who have accepted to join this competition instead of Hertfford Photographic Club.  The judge will be David Steel.

An email will be sent out to all members regarding entries for this external competition at the start of the season.

Models, macro, flowers, ICM 

ZOOM - Polina Plotnikova will give us a talk on "Still Life" or, if we wish, one half of the talk on "Flower Photography" and the second half on "Still Life". The choice is ours.

A new speaker to our club, David will talk on how he uses tiny model figures to make up stories and apply them using macro photography.  This is of particular interest to those with toy soldier displays but it might be of use to other members to get their children or grandchildren interested in photography in a fun way.

Christchurch: PDI Competition No 3 - Theme : "Reflections"     Judge: Peter Prosser

Normally we ask members to upload to the club's web site up to two images on the set subject defined by the theme.  These will be judged in the first part of the evening.  We also invite them to upload up to TWO images of an Open nature, which will be judged in the second part of the evening.  If there are too many images for the evening, we will drop the second Open image.

Members Night - The Club's biennial auction which was postponed from the 2023-24 season.  We hope to have Dave Foster and Rob Powell compering the event.

ZOOM: This is a talk on African wildlife done by Alison Mees, who is also involved in a cheetah protection programme over there.

ZOOM: PDI Competition No 5 Theme : "Trees"   - Judge: Gary Langley

We normally ask members to upload up to TWO images on the set subject defined by the theme and these will be judged in the first half of the evening.  We also invite members to upload two PDIs of an OPEN nature, which will be judged in the second half of the evening.  If there are too many images submitted, then we  will drop one of the Open images from the competition.

Gary Langley is a very experienced judge from the North and East Midlands Photographic federation (N&EMPF)....

Zoom: Speaker No 8 - Alistair How on "Urban and Street Photography".  Alistair highlights his urban and street photography from many cities in the UK and beyond.  His talks will include tips on how to get the best images, what equipment to use and how to approach the scene.  This will be useful for our intrepid band of photographers, who go down to London regularly on photographic trips.

Christchurch: Annual PDI Competition - Judge: Micki Aston

Members can upload up to FOUR images on any subject with no restrictions on when you took the photo.  

This is a F2F talk at Christchurch with Martin Patten entitled "How to Critique your own Images".

As we take our own images, especially when on holiday, can we analyse and critique them quickly and effectively so that we can perhaps go back and retake the image?  And can we have general critique of our images that help us in the long termto take better images.

Martin will start off in the first hald using his own images to show us how to perform a sensible critique but in the second half will take images from club members to critique and more importantly to help us improve...
