The Welwyn Garden City Photographic Club (WGCPC) exists to promote interest in photography amongst like-minded people. The club offers the chance for members to listen to speakers who are experts in their particular fields, to get out with our cameras with other club members and to participate in competitions and have our images critiqued by experienced photographic judges, all with the aim of improving our knowledge and the quality of the images we are making.
There is no snobbery with regards to photographic equipment. More members are using their mobile phones to capture competition images. The most expensive camera gear does not always equate with the best photographs. Some photographers who regularly use DSLR or mirrorless use their smart phones to consider composition before shooting with their “big cameras”.
The most important objective of the club is to help all members enjoy their photography even if it just means there are like minded people to go out with their cameras.
There is also the opportunity to work towards distinctions from the RPS and the PAGB under the guidance of more experienced club members who have already been through the process.
We hope that by becoming a member you will able to enjoy your hobby just that little bit more!
