About Us

The Welwyn Garden City Photographic Club has been active for over 80 years. Formed in 1937 we currently meet at Christchurch in Tewin Road WGC or via Zoom as dictated via the programme. The club meets on Tuesday evenings at 8.00pm until 10.00pm. The full address for Christchurch is as follows:

Christchurch Baptist Church

20 Tewin Road

Welwyn Garden City

AL7 1BW

There is ample on-site parking for club members attending meetings. Please see the map on the Where We Meet: page.

The club meets regularly throughout the season from September until May. Our meetings take the form of talks from external speakers, internal competitions, inter-club competitions, social evenings where we can discuss all things photographic, members evenings where club members can give us the benefit of their wisdom on different aspects of photography and practical sessions either at Christchurch or out and about with our cameras.

We have a short coffee break half-way through the evening and the club provide refreshments (tea, coffee and biscuits) to those that want them for £1 per week.

The club is affiliated to the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (PAGB) and is a member of the East Anglian Federation (EAF) of Photographic Societies. These organisations provide us with a structure for us to operate and hold registers of judges for our internal competitions and speakers that we can invite to the club to talk on different aspects of photography. They also run regional and national competitions in which we usually participate.
