Competition Overview

The club run internal competitions throughout the season and participate in several inter-club and external competitions.

Internal competitions are for PDIs (Projected Digital Images) and Prints.  For all but one of these competitions an external judge is invited to officiate who will provide constructive feedback as to how each image can be improved.  This helps us to improve our photography and learn how to improve the way.

We run seven PDI competitions and four print competitions each season as follows:

Five rounds of PDI competitions, four of which images should follow a set theme, and three rounds of Print competitions, in each of which we have a round for colour prints and a round for monochrome prints.

At the end of the year the winning images from each of these competitions are voted on by members to find our PDIOTY (Projected Digital Image of the Year), CPOTY (Colour Print of the Year) and the MPOTY (Monochrome Print of the Year).  The photographers who took these images then receive a trophy.

We also have annual PDI and Print competitions, the latter consisting of two rounds, one for colour and the second for monochrome prints.  The winning photographers each receive a trophy.

Finally, usually to end our season, we hold a fun KO PDI competition where we, the members, judge the competition.  The photographer of the winning image also receives a trophy.

Competition Rules and advice on how to prepare your entries can be found on the appropriate pages of this website .

For print competitions PDIs of the images are required by the specified closing date.

The club participates in inter-club competitions which involve a mixture of PDIs and prints.  The regular inter-club competitions are:

The Ron Harvey Landscape (Print) Competition

The 4 Way Battle against Hertford, Letchworth and Stevenage

The Cambridge Digital Inter-Club Competition (CDICC)

We also take part in National and regional external competitions which include:

The PAGB GB Cup (Open)

The EAF PDI Championship

The EAF Print Championship

The EAF EXhibition (strictly not a competition for clubs but for club members which is administered by the club)
